History & Heritage
The Read House Hotel has operated continuously since 1872, making it the longest-operating hotel in the Southeastern United States. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and includes ties to the Civil War era. Guests can join the free historical tour of Room 311, led by doorman John, which covers the hotel's Jazz Age renovation and reported ghost sightings.
Rooms & Accommodations
The hotel offers rooms in two sections: the historic Tower and the more modern Manor. Premier King rooms in the Tower provide large bathrooms and views of nearby mountains, while Traditional Double Queen rooms are available for families. Accommodations include pet-friendly rooms, and guests can request a room upgrade upon booking directly through the hotel, which also includes vouchers for complimentary champagne at the bar.
Dining & Entertainment
On-site dining includes Bridgeman's Chophouse, a steakhouse serving options like the lobster, crab, and shrimp tower, and a bar with a billiards room. Starbucks has its own entrance inside the hotel, open daily during the week. The bar offers espresso martinis and happy hour, and room service is available on Fridays and Saturdays.
Amenities & Wellness
The hotel has a large indoor heated pool open year-round, with sun loungers and pool towels provided. A fitness center is accessible to all guests. Valet parking is available 24/7 for $28 per night with unlimited in-and-out access, and the hotel also provides a parking garage across the street for $20 per overnight.

The hotel is less than 1 km from the Tennessee Aquarium and a 5-minute drive from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Lookout Mountain is 5 km away, and the Creative Discovery Museum is a 9-minute walk.
